Jason Hess
Who I am: I’m deliriously happy in being married to Mandy since December 1998. Outside of Jesus, she’s the greatest gift God has ever given me, and I am daily reminded of God’s great love through her.
What I do here at Southway: I serve as Lead Pastor here, and my primary roles are leading and preaching-teaching. I lead our great staff towards our vision and goals, and am the primary preacher-teacher on Sunday mornings for our great congregation.
My Favorites:
-Food: Freebirds burritos. Anytime is a good time for a ‘Bird.
-Movie: Remember The Titans, Star Wars 4-6.
-Song: I have to classify this in genre, sorry: Classic Rock: Free Will by Rush. Worship Classic: O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing (Crowder version of the Wesley song) Worship Modern: Servant’s Praise by Taylor Johnson.
-Book: You mean besides the Bible? Here are a few: Crazy Love by Francis Chan, Vintage Jesus by Mark Driscoll, and Radical by David Platt.
What I see God up to at Southway: I see God’s kindness on display in various ways. He is kind to us through our endeavors in partnering with various churches and ministries around our city to bring hope and help to people. I also see God growing us (at times nice and at times painful) to be more dependent on Him to do His work. As you’ll see on “our future” story, the ride of following Christ and serving His mission only will prove to be more exciting, scary, and ultimately fulfilling as our journey continues.
