Larry Burleson

Who I am: I am husband to Caren. We will celebrate 40 years of marriage this December. I am dad to Brian, pops to Craig and daddy/dad to Lori. Caren and I are blessed with six grandchildren and look forward to even more.

What I do here at Southway: My title at Southway is Worship Pastor. As worship pastor I support the Lead Pastor, Jason Hess. My primary job is ministering to the Lord by directing the Worship Arts. My responsibilities include planning all services and leading the band and choir.

My Favorites:
-Food: ….food. Liver and Chick-fil-a are NOT food.
-Movie (s): Casablanca, The Day the Earth Stood Still (the original, not the eco film from last year), Star Wars IV, V, VI, Them, My Cousin Vinny, and the original Manchurian Candidate.
-Song: The one my grandchildren want to sing. My preferred genres are Swing, Big Band, 50’s Rock-n-Roll, and the current Praise/Worship music.
-Book: Practicing His Presence by Frank Laubach, Worship Matters by Bob Kauflin, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Donald Miller and all of the offerings by Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy.

What I see God up to at Southway: God is impressing a desire for growth on the people here at Southway and is drawing new people to Southway who also have a desire to grow. This growth is spiritual as well as physical as more and more of our folks are volunteering, and looking around them with an eye for where He is working so that they may join in.
